Hello, my name is Tian and I am a computer scientist. I am also a professor at a private university called Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, USA.

I love my job because it provides me endless opportunities to interact with motivated and hard working students and chances to explore and learn new things every day. My work can be divided into research, teaching and service in a rough ratio of 40/40/20.

Recently I work on research at the intersection of systems and machine learning. I am also still working in the area of cloud computing which I started doing during my Ph.D. in 2010, and I also work on unleashing the power of commodity mobile phones since 2015.

I teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in mobile, cloud computing, and systems. I like exploring and learning new stuffs, and my job provides the perfect opportunity. Therefore, I love my job. I am also passionate about teaching but still in constant look out to grow as an effective educator.

I have two furry friends and during my free time, I like to lounge in the couch with my puppy and read. I travel a lot for work and for pleasure and the most unique place I have been to is the Crystal Cave in Bermuda.
